Kohima, November 8 (MExN): Kohima College’s campus came alive with festive spirit today as the Skill Development Cell, in collaboration with various college departments, hosted the “Winter Wonderland” fete. Celebrating the season with a Christmas-themed fest, the event was officially inaugurated by Principal Dr. Vitsosie Vüprü, who kicked off the celebrations with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The main attraction was a Christmas Tree Decoration Competition held in the college courtyard. Judging the beautifully decorated trees were Vice Principal Kaholi Chishi, retired Head of the Department of Political Science Zeneinuo Solo, and Kohima College Alumni Association President Khriebu Nakhro. Showcasing their creative flair, the Department of English clinched 1st place, with the Departments of Education and Commerce securing 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.

Participants from the college’s two-week craft-making certificate course, organized by the Skill Development Cell, displayed their handmade creations, which were showcased at various booths throughout the fete. These craft booths highlighted the college’s dedication to skill development and provided a platform for students to present their work.

Adding to the festive charm, the fete offered a diverse food menu, including both local and international dishes such as gimbap, Som Tam, choux pastries, and traditional sticky rice products. Seasonal drinks like ginger ale and hot chocolate warmed up the chilly day, while activity booths offered face painting, a photo-booth, and a jumble sale with discounted items. The Students’ Council kept the energy alive with games and a lottery draw, giving away prizes throughout the day.

Proceeds from the event will support upcoming skill-building initiatives.
