Dimapur, October 26 (MExN): A self-styled ayurvedic specialist who has been indulging in habitual cheating of innocent public was apprehended by the public of Lower Chandmari AG Road Colony, Kohima and has been subsequently expelled from Kohima after being served a stern warning.
A press statement issued by the Secretary of the Lower Chandmari AG Road Colony, Visopi Angami disclosed that the imposter, a woman by the name of Bacom Cobiraj, aged around 35 years cheated people, for the past five to six years, by claiming that she can heal people the use of black magic. Her clients were mostly women.
The modus operandi of the cheater was to collect essential commodities like mustard oil, milk powder, soaps, shawls etc, besides demanding huge amount for her treatment, which ranged from Rs 5000 to Rs 7000.
The release informed that after collecting the materials she used to vanish, for which many complaints from several colonies spread all over Kohima.
The release said that the imposter appeared in the Lower Chandmari AG Road Colony. However, being found out that she was the same person, the colony residents apprehended her and handed her over to South Police Station.
The imposter confessed to her misdeeds and agreed to return the materials, which she has taken from her former clients, besides giving an assurance that she will never practice the ‘profession’ again.
The imposter, as per her requests, has been expelled from Kohima by the police and by her clients.
The release, in this regard, declared that, if the imposter comes back to Kohima, then her clients and the law enforcing agencies would be liable to take action against her.
The release further cautioned the public and the citizens of the aware of such imposters in the future and advised the public to report such cases to the police at the earliest.
