Kohima, July 7 (MExN): In view of the deteriorating condition of the road at the old Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) dumping site and the recurring landslides near the old toll tax gate—commonly referred to as the ‘Welcome to Kohima Gate’—the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a directive restricting vehicular movement along a stretch of National Highway-29.
According to the order, only six-wheeler goods carrier trucks will be allowed to ply on the affected stretch until further notice. The measure has been taken in the interest of public safety, as continuous rainfall has worsened road conditions, making them unsafe for heavier or larger vehicles. The administration has appealed for cooperation from transporters and the public.
