KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem has issued a travel advisory, closing a section of National Highway 29 below the Old KMC dumping site near Shiva Mandir to all traffic until further notice.
The closure comes in view of the worsening condition of the highway and ongoing restoration works, the DC said in an order issued on September 24.
“All heavy vehicles, including water tankers, military and paramilitary vehicles, compact and mid-size pickups, and mid-size and heavy commercial passenger vehicles shall be diverted to Peducha Bridge Tsiesema via 10 Mile Road. Only light motor vehicles shall be allowed to pass through the Jotsoma Bypass road,” the order stated.
The DC said the advisory was issued to ensure public safety and smooth execution of restoration works. Violation of the order will attract prosecution under relevant sections of law.
