Kohima DC leads debri clearance at Bayavü

Kohima, July 6 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, personally led a debris clearance operation following a landslide that occurred at Bayavü Colony, below the Directorate of School Education, Kohima, on July 6.

The operation witnessed coordinated efforts by various departments, local leaders, and community members to restore access and ensure public safety. DC Buchem, accompanied by his team, monitored and participated in the clearing activities on-site.

The Deputy Commissioner expressed his deep appreciation to the Kohima Municipal Council for providing critical machinery, including a JCB and a dumper. He also acknowledged the contributions of Advisor and MLA Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Ward-2 Councillor Avilie Rio, and the PWD (Mechanical) Department, each of whom arranged dumpers to support the operation.

Further, DC Buchem extended gratitude to the Bayavü Colony Youth, led by the Colony President, for their manpower support; the Kohima State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) for assisting in manpower deployment; the Kohima District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) for providing logistical assistance; and the Power Department, Kohima Division, for its cooperation during the exercise.

Special thanks were also extended to SDO (Civil) Sadar, James Renbi Kikon, who served as the team leader, for his effective leadership and coordination throughout the operation.
