
KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Shanavas C, IAS has notified certain measures to ensure that provisions of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) are being adhered to by all concerned.
A notice from the Kohima DC said that periodic checking of ILP shall be conducted in all parts of the district. The Kohima District Special Task Force for the detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters is constituted comprising of the following members: Kohima Town Team - I will be headed by SDO (C) Sadar as Convenor with SDPO North and DBs as member secretary and members; Kohima town team - II: SDO (C) HQ as Convenor, SDPO South as member secretary and DBs as member; and Kohima town team - III: EAC Sadar as Convenor, OC North as member secretary and DBs as member.
For Chiephobozou ADC Sub Division, ADC Chiephobozou will be Convenor with OC Chiephobozou as member secretary, and DBs as member. For Jakhama SDO (C) Sub-Division, SDO (C) Jakhama will be Convenor, with OC Police Station Khuzama as member secretary and DBs as member. Meanwhile, for Sechu-Zubza SDO (C) Sub-Division, SDO (C) Zubza will be the Convenor, with OC Police as member secretary, and DBs as member.
The Task Force constituted shall ensure that verification drives are carried out at regular intervals to detect ILP defaulters and illegal immigrants and prosecute them under the relevant provisions of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act, 1873, the DC added.
The DC also reminded that as per section (2) & (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873 and Government Notifications, every non-native person entering the demarcated Inner Line is required to obtain a permit and hence regular checking at Sechu-Zubza are to be conducted to detect any defaulters.
The Special Task Force has been empowered to ensure that the monthly report is submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima after the completion of the verification drives.
