Kohima DC orders eviction drive from November 28

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 27 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan has ordered a joint eviction drive to remove building materials, firewood, pigsties, temporary urinals, off road vehicles, optical fiber cables/wires, water pipes and other “eyesore structures” in and around Kohima town starting November 28.  

Other materials will be seized and vehicles will be towed away. Charges of towing are to be borne by the owner and all seized materials to be bought back by the owners at the cost involved.  

The DC, in an order today, informed that the drive will be carried out with the joint effort of the district administration, police, KMC, PHED and Power Department. It also directed all commercial buildings and shop owners in the town and along the Dimapur-Kohima highway till Khuzama to paint their buildings and install lights immediately.  

The following officers have been detailed for the eviction drive: I Changsang, EAC Sadar, Kohima; Renbithung, EAC Arms, Kohima; Daniel Angami, EAC Revenue, Kohima; Alemyapang Longchar SDO (C) Jakhama and Seyiekhrietuo Solo, EAC Kezocha. The order has been issued as despite several reminders, some companies/contractors/sub-contractors/residents are still not adhering to the directive issued earlier, the DC said.
