Kohima DCC meeting discusses banking services

Kohima, March 21 (DIPR): The District Consultative Committee (DCC) Meeting of Kohima District was held on March 18 at DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima.  

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soudararajan, IAS interacted and discussed on various issues with the bankers and district officials for activities and improvement with regard to the banking services. He further suggested the bankers to conduct Financial Literacy Program in the rural areas to provide a platform for the beneficiaries to avail various schemes and to create awareness about the digital transactions. The DC also requested the bankers to expedite mobile and Aadhaar seeding on priority and asked them to achieve 100% seeding of Aadhaar and mobile number by 31st March 2017 and submit a report.  

Assistant General Manager (DD), Bendang Aier who also shared his views and experiences said that NABARD has been extending support in conducting programs and added that Financial Literacy programs have been organised in 24 villages in the district for the benefit of villagers. He also urged the bankers and officials to make a target to help out the farmers in providing loans and other facilities.  

Assistant Director, Food and Civil Supplies, Dr. Kapenlo Thong highlighted the several issues faced by the villagers and requested the bankers to set up easily accessible area in Jakhama and Sechu-Zubza as an urgent need where villagers could come for transactions.  

An annual brochure “Milestone” on Entrepreneurs journey, published by District Industries and Centre Kohima was also distributed in the meeting. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Chief Manager Lead Bank, Seikhohao Sitlhou.
