Kohima dist level students’ Science Fair 2024 held

Kohima, September 22 (MExN):  The Kohima District Level Students’ Science Fair (Seminar & Exhibition) 2024 for students of both Govt. and Private Schools on the topics “Artificial Intelligence: Potentials & Concerns” (Science Seminar) and “Science and Technology for Society” (Science Exhibition) was held on September 18 last at Dr. N. Kire GHSS, Seikhazou, Kohima. Nine schools joined the event.

In Science Seminar, Hrüyini (Class 9) from  Model Higher Secondary  School, Kohima bagged the first position while Kokdila L. Anar (Class 10) from Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Keneisenuo Medom (Class 9) from Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima stood second and third position respectively.

In Science Exhibition (Individual Category), Thejasevor Tseikha (Class 11), Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima and Krishnendu Adak (Class 10), Mezhür Higher Secondary School, Kohima bagged 1st and 2nd position respectively.

Science Exhibition (Group Category): First Position-Martha Bungsong (Class 12) & Murenba L. (Class 12)  from Dr. N. Kire GHSS, Seikhazou, Second Position- Nokpai M. Jorlym (Class 12) & Ngunlih W. Konyak (Class 12), Rüzhükhrie GHSS, Kohima.

The judges for the event included; Dr. Sedevikho Chase, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Mathematics, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, Sedevilhou Victor Angami, Graduate Teacher (Science), GHS Zhadima and Veravole Tetso, Asst. Teacher (Chemistry), St. Mary’s Cathedral Hr. Sec. School, Kohima.

The event was chaired by Ketounei Kire, G/T, Dr. N. Kire GHSS, Seikhazou and graced by Emilo Patton, DEO, Kohima, Patricia Vizo, Sr. SDEO, Kohima and Smt. Anyile Khamo, DPO, Dept. of Social Welfare.

Welcome address was delivered by DEO, Kohima. Under a special category, cash awards to the best performing girl students and participation certificates to all girl students was sponsored by the District Administration, Kohima in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao to promote the education of girl child.

Further, DEO, Kohima gave away the Cash Awards and Citations to the winners.

Participation Certificate and cash award were presented to all the student participants and Teacher Guides.

The First Prize winners in each category will represent Kohima District at the State Level event to be held on October 3 at Mt. Tabor Retreat Centre, (above ISBT), Kohima.
