Committee to survey on impact of different measures adopted by government in fight against COVID-19

 

Kohima, June 22 (MExN): The Kohima District Congress Committee (KDCC) held an emergency meeting under the chairmanship of KDCC, President, Kevi Vizo at Congress Bhavan on June 22.


KDCC, General Secretary (Information & Publicity), Yangertemjen stated in a press release that the meeting deliberated at length on the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) letter dated June 11, 2020 with regard to various issues concerning the people of the State and specially the State Capital in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.


After thorough deliberations, KDCC constituted the Kohima District Congress Public Grievances Committee (KDCPGC) with PCC member Zeneizolie Zacharia as convenor, KDCC general secretary Yangertemjen as secretary, all vice presidents as members and KDCC president as overall in-charge.


As directed by the NPCC, the KDCPGC under KDCC would conduct a survey on the impact of the different measures adopted by the government in the fight against COVID-19 and also assess the difficulties faced by the commoners alongside the economic challenges.


With the government converting the only district hospital in the State capital into COVID-19 hospital, which was unavoidable, health issues for other patients have become one of the major concerns amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. 


The KDCPGC will therefore, encourage the public through various mediums to ensure their health insurance, specially the BPL family members to register under Ayushman Bharat health scheme. KDCPGC will maintain check and balance on the implementation of the scheme by the government agencies.


“In this difficult time faced by the poorer section of people, KDCPGC will also oversee the distribution of rations under AAY, BPL and APL including disaster management funds that are distributed by the administration,” the release stated. 


Another area will be ensuring transparency in the implementation of MGNREGA funds as the Government of India has increased the budget to over Rs 1 lakh crore. We will take up the concerns of the daily wage earners and job card holders with the BDOs.


The Committee will also look into the problems of roadside vendors and also the difficulties faced by our farmers due to non availability of agriculture produce market facilities.


It also said that besides, focus will be made towards sincere implementation of the Mudra Loan so that interest MSME can avail the opportunities towards enhancement of the economy.


While KDCPGC will take up the concerns at the district level, the KDCC meeting also constituted a similar committee for all the seven Assembly Constituency Congress Committee (ACCCs) in Kohima district to take the concerns at Assembly Constituency level.


KDCC vice president in-charge of the each ACCC will be convener with the respective ACCCs president as co-convener and all KDCC secretaries i/c of ACCCs as members.  


Meanwhile, the Committee had also expressed its respect to all the frontline workers, including health workers, police, administration, KMC sanitation workers and media fraternity for the tireless efforts in the respective field during this pandemic situation. “We also acknowledge the Churches and NGOs for helping the District Task Force in cooking meals for our brothers and sisters housed in different quarantine centres,” it added. 


It also appealed to the party workers and the public to extend all possible support to the government and administration in order to win the fight against COVID-19 together.
