Kohima District Health Society holds review meeting

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 22 (MExN): The District Health Society Committee, Kohima held a review meeting on October 22 at the DC’s Conference hall, Kohima. The meeting was based on the performance and status of health units in the district.

CMO Kohima, Dr VezokholuTheyo presented a slide show covering the topics on health centre status, ANC, laboratory and patient services, deliveries, immunization, family planning and COVID-19 vaccination status. She also stressed on the programmes of the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM), Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram, NVBDCP IEC/BCC activities done by the districts, National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP), non communicable disease, law enforcement activities and Nagaland Healthcare Acts.

District TB Officer, Dr Akaba Jamir highlighted on the status of tuberculosis infection in the state. He mentioned that India has the highest estimated burden of Tuberculosis Infection (TBI) in the world and nearly 35- 40 crore Indians have TBI, of which 26 lakh are estimated to develop TB annually.

He stated that with an aim to eliminate TB by 2025, the Prime Minister has carried out various activities like, ‘TB Hareega Desh Jeetega campaign—TB free India Mission’ which was launched by the Minister of Health & Family Welfare on September 25.

He also highlighted the facilities available under NTEP for free diagnosis of sputum sample, free drugs, free treatment, Nutritional Support (NPY), travel support, financial incentives to private supporters etc.

Meanwhile, DPO, DAPCU, Sentimongla Tsudir reported on the HIV/AIDS status in Nagaland and the facilities available in the State. She also briefed on the achievements of the DAPCU in sensitisation and awareness programmes held in the district.
