Winners to represent district in forthcoming State Level Indigenous Games Competition on April 8 and 9

Kohima, March 28 (MExN): The Kohima District Level Indigenous Games Competition was held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on March 27. 

A DIPR report quoting District Sports Officer, Kohima, Dziesebeinuo Vizo informed that the competition was conducted with around hundred participants in three disciplines - tug of war, bamboo stilt race and cock fight.

In the men’s tug of war, Bout Lords (Bull) bagged the first position while Champion Team bagged the second place and Bout Lords (Lighting) bagged the third place.

United Sisters was declared as winner in tug of war (women’s) while  Black Warriors and St Luke bagged the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

In bamboo stilt race, Wangkhan was declared as the winner and Hinglokpo won the second place.

In the cock fight competition, Ruyonu Thelou won the first position while Medosatuo  and Vaphizo Rutsa were placed in the second and third respectively. 

The winners were awarded certificates along with cash prizes of Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000  and Rs 5,000 respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in tug of war for both men and women category. 

Cash prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs, 2 000 and Rs 1,000 respectively were awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders in bamboo stilt race and cock fight competition. 

Meanwhile, the DSO also informed that the winners will be representing Kohima district in the forthcoming State Level Indigenous Games Competition to be held at IG Stadium, Kohima on April 8 and 9.
