KOHIMA, OCTOBER 1 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, has announced a new enumeration exercise for the Garo, Kuki, Kachari, Mikir (Karbi), and Nepali/Gorkha communities settled in Kohima district. This initiative aims to facilitate the issuance of High Court Certificates (HC) and Permanent Residency Certificates (PRC).
According to the notification, individuals from the Garo, Kuki, Kachari, and Mikir (Karbi) communities who settled in Nagaland before December 1, 1963, as well as Nepali/Gorkhas who settled prior to December 31, 1940, are eligible for this enumeration.
The enumeration will be carried out by the Deputy Commissioner's office at village and town levels using a prescribed proforma.
Each enumeration sheet must be countersigned by the Village Council Chairman or Municipal Council Chairman, along with the concerned Village Gaon Burha, Area Administrative Officer, and representatives from the respective communities. The completed sheets will then be submitted to the Home Department, Nagaland, through the Commissioner, before being presented to the Cabinet for decision.
The schedule for this enumeration exercise begins with the issuance of the notification- October 1, 2024. Training for Charge Officers, Supervisors, and Enumerators will take place from October 18 to 31, 2024, followed by the enumeration period from November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025. The Draft List will be published on February 15, 2025, with a period for claims and objections running from February 17 to March 17, 2025. Claims and objections will be disposed of between March 18 and April 21, 2025, and the final publication of the enumeration list is set for May 6, 2025.
