Kohima, April 17 (DIPR): The monthly meeting of the Kohima District Planning & Development Board was held on April 15, at DC’s conference hall, Kohima under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Bei-u Angami.
The Chairman reviewed the last meeting minutes and welcomed new DPDB members. ADC Planning, Ketoho Luho appraised the house on the implementation of the Village Vision Cell. He said that the Board has been receiving an encouraging number of models from various villages and was hopeful that the Village Vision Cell under the theme ‘Back to the Roots’ would be a good exercise for the benefit of the people.
Convenor, Advisory Board, Kohima Municipal Council, Y. Chuba Ao who gave a briefing on the issues concerning KMC, presented a short paper where he touched vital issues concerning the capital town. Speaking on sanitation, Y. Chuba said that garbage are seen overflowing in the dustbins in colonies and in the town although efforts are being made by the KMC to dispose off the wastes everyday. He said that two colonies namely Merhülietsa, and Lower Chandmari have been declared as dustbin free zone whereby the garbage are collected from the houses by a moving truck. He advocated more such dustbin free zones and sought help for more vehicles to carry on the work.
He also pointed out on improvements to be made in the Keziekie Market, and suggested the Board to examine the matter regarding uniforms for taxi/bus drivers and spoke on the beautification of the Capital town. He requested all offices/departments/institutions/churches etc to maintain cleanliness and adopt beautification programmes in their own premises and urged upon the DPDB to look into the matter. Officers from various departments also shared their views regarding the matter. Y. Chuba Ao also spoke on maintenance of roads in the town, streamlining the private cable water supply and suggested monthly inspection of colonies by the sector magistrates along with concerned officials to oversee beautification programmes, dumping of materials on the roadside etc.
