Kohima, May 15 (DIPR): Kohima District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) felicitated Zebulun Pamai, first division holder with highest aggregate marks in HSLC Examination 2017 among Government High School students on May 15 at DPDB Hall here. A student of Ruzhukhrie GHSS, Kohima, she was given cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a certificate at the 9th felicitation programme for those who secure highest aggregate marks in HSLC examination amongst the Government High Schools in Kohima.
MLA Dr. Neiphrie Keditsu, who was the chief guest, in his address acknowledged that despite difficulties faced by the teachers and students, especially government schools, there are dedicated people who work hard. He expressed gratitude to the DPDB members for initiating a good cause to felicitate and encourage students, particularly those from very low background, to help young people build a better future for all.
He assured that on behalf of the DPDB he will sponsor seven students from Ruzhukhrie GHSS, Kohima this year for their studies in any stream. Knowledge and education, he added, are keys to society and a better future for students. He also encouraged the students to focus on career oriented instead of degree oriented which would be helpful in many ways in future.
Dr. Kedozetuo Penyu, President, Angami Gazetted Krotho (AGOK), who spoke on behalf of the association, thanked the DPDB members for felicitating the students from government schools and expressed hope that the members will continue to come up with more innovative ideas which would be suitable for the people in the district. He assured all support from their end.
Short speeches were also delivered by Headmaster, Ruzhukhrie GHSS, Kohima, Kepelhou Chasi and parent of the awardee.
Monthly meeting held
The Kohima DPDB also held its monthly meeting on May 15 at DPDB Hall. The ADC (HQ) & Convener Core Committee, DPDB Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi reminded the members to submit their departmental profile to ADC (Planning) which would be incorporated in the LADP booklet 2017.
Regarding the installation of electric post at Gasie, she informed that DPDB Kohima has forwarded the letter to EE power for further government approval.
On village adoption programme, she informed that in view of transfers and posting of many officers, there will be changes in committee members, adding ARCS Co-operative will be the convener of 14th Southern Angami-I.
