Kohima DPDB: Members urged to attend meetings regularly; action to be taken against absentees

Kohima, June 15 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS), who is also the vice chairman of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), has requested all members of the board to realize the importance of the DPDB, which is one of the highest decision making bodies in the district, and attend the board meetings regularly.  

At the monthly meeting of the Kohima DPDB on June 15 at the DPDB conference hall here, the DC further reminded the members that follow-up action will be initiated on the absentees from the next DPDB meeting onwards.  

A DIPR report informed that Soundararajan also raised some important issues in regard to monsoon preparedness, where he appreciated the line departments for their efforts in making the affected roads motorable again. He requested all the concerned line departments to be prepared with their roles and responsibilities as member of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).  

The line departments also highlighted the activities undertaken and in the pipeline in regard to maintenance works under the district. The issue of Sanuoru Bridge, Secretariat Road was also raised by Dr. Nicky Kire, Advisor Rural Development in the meeting. The concerned department’s official informed that the department has been taking up the issue with the contractor and works have been in progress.  

On tree plantation drive, the DC informed that as per the decision of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, 48,000 tree saplings have to be planted across the State and Kohima district will be getting 4,000 tree saplings. In this connection, he requested all the departments to cooperate with the Forest Department.  

Regarding the Adoption Committee for 2018-2019, he requested the committees to chalk out their plans before the next DPDB meeting in order to execute their plans at the earliest and to complete their activities within the time frame. He also announced the increase in the amount from Rs. 1.5 lakh to Rs. 2 lakh for each Adoption Committee as decided by the chairman DPDB Er. Zale Neikha and the elected members of the Kohima constituency.  

With regard to Government Assets Data updating, the DC asked the departments which are yet to submit the data in respect of their department to do so at the earliest as it has to be updated annually.  

The meeting also decided to forward to the government for approval of recasting of LADP schemes for 12th Tseminyu A/C and 15th Southern Angami II A/C.  

The PWD (NH) has been entrusted to present its departmental presentation in the next DPDB meeting besides one presentation from private group on reducing the usage of plastic.
