
Kohima, September 16 (DIPR): The monthly Kohima District Planning and Development Board meeting was held on September 15 at the DC’s conference hall in Kohima under the chairmanship of MLA Dr. Nicky Kire.
The main agenda of the meeting was the deliberation and approval of the Kohima DPDB Action Calendar 2009-10.
With the financial support of the DPDB chairman, the Kohima DPDB has been involving in capacity building activities since last year and the Board felt that the same exercise should be continued. In this context, a few programmes were proposed and submitted for the approval of the Board.
With the extension of one more year as the ‘Year of Capacity Building’ by the state government, the Board felt that it would continue to put in efforts in the form of imparting education to the people, in whatever way possible, which would go a long way in developing the district.
The Board members were also sensitised on the action plan on preparedness for H1N1 pandemic measures undertaken at Kohima district. Resource persons from the Naga Hospital Authority, Kohima, also gave a briefing on swine flu awareness, clinical management protocol and infection control guidelines.
District Commandant for Home Guards & Civil Defence in Kohima, Medo Pienyü, gave a presentation on ‘disaster mitigation and preparedness’ where he spelt out the proactive steps taken by the Central and the state governments for ‘sustainable disaster risk management and response’.
He also apprised the house on the initiatives taken by the Civil Defence & Home Guards in disaster management under the district. The Board also decided to forward to the higher authorities the proposal for upgradation of Trinity School in Kohima, Government Middle School in Mezoma, and GPS at K. Khel, Viswema.
