Kohima enters 2nd phase of total lockdown

The 2nd phase of total lockdown within Kohima municipality started today with commercial establishments downed shutter and public vehicles remained off roads. Public movement is also restricted. In many wards, few grocery shops have been allowed to open this morning time to facilitate people to buy essential commodities.

On Friday, Kohima Deputy Commissioner notified extension of total lockdown for a period of 7 days with effect from August 1 till 7. The extension has been necessitated by the recent surge in the COVID-19 positive cases in the district outside the quarantine centres, the DC’s order informed.

Do not panic for essential commodities: KMC
Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) today informed the public that enough and sufficient stocks are available and that special movement permits are being issued to wholesalers for transportation of additional commodities into the district.

Informing this to the citizens within Kohima municipality, KMC Administrator Kovi Meyase advised the citizens not to panic for essential commodities.

Permitted grocery shops listed 
Mesaye informed that in pursuant to the notification of Kohima Deputy Commissioner, the KMC has allowed certain grocery shops to open against each wards.

Number of permitted grocery shops against each wards include; Ward 1- 6 shops, Ward 2- 7 shops, Ward 3- 9 shops, Ward 4- 3 shops, Ward 5- 3 shops, Ward 6- 3 shops, Ward 7- 3 shops, Ward 8- 3 shops, Ward 9- 9 shops, Ward 10- 6 shops, Ward 11- 10 shops, Ward 12- 3 shops, Ward 13- 3 shops, Ward 14- 6 shops, Ward 15- 13 shops, Ward 16- 11 shops, Ward 17- 13 shops, Ward 18- 3 shops and Ward 19-15 shops.

The administrators stated that those grocery shops have been listed after due consultation with the ward authorities keeping in mind the need to facilitating the public while also being mindful of the  health protocols during the total lockdown period.

Meyase stated that no other shops shall be allowed to open till further order except those listed.

Home delivery services
The KMC Administrator also stated that home delivery services will also be available. The services will be provided by Green Caravan- 9436001016, Entrepreneurs Associates- 8974473931 and YV Deliveries- 8132863484.

Meyase called for strict adherence to all precautionary measures as mentioned in the SOPs on use of masks, hand sanitizers, gloves and social distancing protocols.

It also asked for strict adherence to directive of the wards authorities on the timing of opening and closure of the shops.

Also, follow strict adherence to rates of essential commodities as notified by KMC.
