Kohima Excise seizes narcotics worth over Rs 1 Cr

KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 11 (MExN): Contraband worth Rs 1,25,40000 (one crore twenty five lakhs and forty thousand) was seized by Excise personnel near Hydro at Zubza, NH-2 on September 10 at around 11:30 pm. 

A press release from S Phyobemo Kikon, Assistant Commissioner of Excise (Zonal), Kohima informed that a special team of the Kohima Excise, on a tip-off, intercepted a suspected truck bearing Registration  No. NL-02 L 3168, and detected a specially modified chamber on the front and rear of the vehicle. The chambers were filled with illegal contraband Ganja, neatly packed in 27 packets weighing 270 kgs and 240 soap cases filled with suspected heroin weighing around 2.4 kg. 

The estimated market value of the seized Ganja and Herion is approximately Rs. 1,25,40000. 

In this connection, the accused persons—Akash Devnath (34) and Jahangir (24) have been arrested for violation of NDPS ACT 1985. The case is under active investigation, the press release added.
