Kohima: Friends of 80 Plus observes 19th foundation day

The 19th foundation day of Friends of 80 Plus Kohima village took place at Marocchino Hall, Christ the King Church, Kohima village on April 30. Presently, there are 75 male and 132 female 80 plus citizens in Kohima village.

Kohima Village Doctors Association conducts medical check for 80 plus citizens.

Keduo-o Zumu, president Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) graced the occasion and expressed happiness over the camaraderie of the 80 plus citizens. He also lauded Friends of 80 Plus for taking care of the senior citizens in Kohima village. Stating that elderly persons are treasure of the society, he wished them healthy and long life and continue to be a source of blessing and inspiration to everyone.

Khriezovonuo, State Programme Manager, SISD, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) also spoke on the occasion and expressed the desire of the NSRLM to associate with Friends of 80 Plus in the coming days.

Lhoube-ii Solo and Riisokhrie presented special numbers. The programme was chaired by Vilakuolie Mere while vote of thanks was proposed by Kevitsu Yhome.

Earlier, Rev Fr Innocent SDB, Principal, Christ King Higher Secondary School invoked God’s blessings. Later, the Kohima Village Doctors Association conducted medical check for 80 plus citizens.

Catholic Youth Association of Christ the King Church Kohima village, Friends of 80 plus and Assam Rifles offered gifts to 80 plus citizens. The photo magazine of Friends of 80 Plus was sponsored by the family members of Late Nguse Solo and late Neizohunuo Solo.

It may be recalled that Friends of 80 Plus was formed by few likeminded citizens of Kohima village to create a platform for young people to celebrate the presence of grandparents and elders of Kohima village. “Since its inception, Friends of 80- plus have marked April 30 every year as its foundation day, celebrating collective community where elders are honoured with feasts and gifts,” stated Neidonuo Angami, convenor, Friends of 80 plus.
