The Kohima Global Leadership Summit will be held on November 9 and 10 at Union Baptist Church, Kohima. Running its fifth edition this year in Kohima, the Global Leadership Summit (GLS) is leadership training held in the US which is conducted in other countries via videocast. In India, 70 summits are held every year in 40 cities with over 22,000 leaders attending the summit. It is also held in seven different languages in India.
Addressing a press conference on November 7 at Union Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Rachülie Vihienuo, Convenor, Organizing Committee informed that 200 participants are expected this year. Providing a brief history on the Global Leadership Summit started in the US in 1992, Rev. Dr Vihienuo mentioned that the Summit is now a global movement which has inspired and motivated many in their workplaces and positively impact the community.
“The outcome of GLS is convincing and compelling. In Kohima, the GLS has been running for the last four years and this will be the fifth. It is reaching out to 132 countries and 4,45,000 leaders,” said Vihienuo. The main summit is held in the US whereby the talks in the summit are selected and aired via videocast. An important aspect of the summit is the interaction among audience after every talk. Business people, government servants, bureaucrats, student leaders, church workers, mothers/homemakers, people from different backgrounds have attended the Summit in Kohima in the last four years.
‘Everyone has influence’
Themed ‘Everyone has influence’, this year’s GLS in Kohima will video cast nine world leaders in various fields namely Craig Groeschel (Co-founder & Senior Pastor, Life Church), Danielle Strickland (Pastor and Author of Justice Advocate), Danny Meyer (Restaurateur, Time Magazine’s 100 Most influential people), Juliet Funt (Recognised Consultant, Speaker and Founder of Whitespace at work), T.D Jakes (Founder and Senior Pastor, The Potter’s House), Carla Harris (Vice Chairman, Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley), Rasmus Ankersen, (Best Selling author, Entrepreneur), Erwin Mcmus (Author, Futurist, Founder of Mosaic Los Angeles), and Simon Sinek (New York Times Bestselling Author, Optimist).
Meripeni Zares, Member of the Organizing Committee, who have regularly attended the Summit for the past four years expressed that the experience has been enriching and influential. “It inspires you to dream differently and you gain new perspectives,” said Zares.
Vision, inspiration and practical skills
The training at the GLS provides a unique blend of vision, inspiration and practical skills featuring diverse perspectives and backgrounds. The Summit also facilitates process time to contextualize the learning and skills to one’s leadership reality. Some of the topics included in the Summit are ‘Strengthening leadership through mentors’, ‘Staying hungry and fighting complacency’, ‘Elimination Barriers to innovation and productivity’, ‘Leading with Cultural intelligence’, ‘High Performing Strategies for Time Management’, and ‘Leading with a Hospitality Quotient’.
The registration for the Summit is slated at Rs. 500/ (Before October 22), Rs.600/- (October 23- November 7), and Rs.800/-(November 8 & 9). The timing will be from 10:00 am to 5:00pm. For team registration (group of 6), one seat will be free. The organizers have also informed that options are also opened for one day participation where interested persons can pay per day.
