Kohima: Indefinite closure of LPG services from July 13

AKIDA against threat on lives and security of LPG workers

Kohima, July 11 (MExN): The All Kohima Indane Distributors Association (AKIDA) has called for an indefinite closure of all LPG showrooms and services with effect from July 13, in protest against assault on LPG workers on duty by miscreants.

According to a statement issued by AKIDA President and General Secretary on July 11, at around 11:00 pm on July 4, two miscreants attacked one LPG truck which was parked below Belho Gas Service Godown, Kohima and snatched the mobile phones of the drivers after they could not give them the amount of money they demanded. One of the miscreants was arrested by the Kohima police, they stated.

Again around 1:00 am on July 9, three miscreants attacked an LPG truck which was parked below Belho Gas Service Godown, Kohima, and demanded to produce UG Tax receipt, the AKIDA statement said. On failing to produce the receipt, the drivers were asked to pay Rs 3, 000, failing which, they were beaten black and blue. The miscreants reportedly seized their mobile phones, Rs 200 and left the site on foot towards Para Medical Colony, Kohima.

AKIDA said that the closure is in protest against “…this criminal act threatening the lives and security of the LPG workers, especially the drivers and handymen on duty for the public essentials.”
