Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima dominated the sporting event of the football discipline at Kohima inter-high school tournament 2022 by winning both the boys and girls football trophy here at Indira Gandhi Stadium.

The four-day long tournament concluded today, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Nagaland. For both boys and girls football final, Rüzhükhrie GHSS emerged victorious in a remarkable feat for the school. The boy team outclass Loyola HSS by 3-0 in the final while girls team beat TM Govt. Higher Secondary School via tie breaker 4-2 following a goalless draw in the final match.

Both the winning teams received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 along with trophy and citations while second place holder awarded with Rs. 30,000.

The semifinalist i.e. Baptist High (boys), Children Home (boys), Loyola School (girls), GMS Meriema (girls) received Rs 10,000 each.

For indoor events, in Table Tennis, Vilavotuo Linyu of Baptist HSS beat Mhasivi Miachieo of Khedi Baptist School in the final to emerge as champ in Single (Boys).

Mhasivi Miachieo and Medovizo Suokhrie of Khedi Baptist School bagged the title of Table Tennis double (Boys) and Vipedezo Khezhie and Kethosetuo Khruomo of Northfield School as runner up.

In Single (Girls), Kesinuo Dzuvichu of Northfield School overpowered Ketoulhounuo Rame of Don Bosco HSS in the final.

Vichaduonuo Rame and Ketoulhounuo Rame of Don Bosco School were the winner of Table Tennis doubles (girls) Letsonuo Kire and Pekrusenuo Yiese from Northfield School as the runner up.

In Badminton single (Boys), Erenbemo Odyuo of Mezhur Higher Secondary School took the title while Menguphrezo Solo as the runner up.

Veisaneikho and Krishna Thapa of Mezhur HSS were the winner of Badminton double (boys) while Mughakishe and Tobeto of Holy Family HSS were the runner up.

In singles (girls) Nguluonuo Miachieo of Little Flower HSS bagged first position and Lhuovisanuo Florence of Don Bosco School as the runner up.

Newongma Limbu and Arshia Gurung of Holy Family School were the winner of badminton double (girls) and Thepfungunuo Kire and Neikdeduonuo Sachu of Baptist High school as the runner up.

The winners for single events received Rs 7000 and the runner's up with Rs 5000. The losing semifinalist were also awarded with 3000.

The winners of the double events received Rs 10,000 followed by runner's up with Rs 8,000. The losing semifinalist received Rs. 4,000 each.

Earlier, Youth Resources and Sports, Additional Director Megolhu Dolie graced the closing ceremony as special guest. He said that sports helps in the all round development of human personality, while also provide healthy and socially acceptable opportunities for the people and nation to compete each other.

The programme was chaired by Jakedovo Chase, Deputy Director Youth Resources & Sports while vote of thanks was proposed by Nyuvitho Nyuthe, Assistant Director, Youth Resources & Sports.
