Kohima-Jessami Package V: 'Irrevocable strike' from May 2

Phek, April 26 (MExN): The local villagers and subcontractors of the ongoing road construction from Kohima-Jessami Package V under Phek district today have decided to go ahead with an “irrevocable strike” from May 2.

The locals and subcontractors are currently engaged by under M/s Stroyproekt LLC OIA JV executing the Package V under Phek district.

The irrevocable strike will result in suspension of work and blockage of roads leading from Losami Junction to Lanye towards Jessami under Package V with effect from May 2, stated a ‘notice’ issued by Avi Movi, the ‘Leader of Agitators Group’ on April 26.

According to the notice, the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) has failed to resolve the termination as well as release of outstanding payments issues, ultimately affecting them.

While the site management of M/s Stroyproekt LLC OIA JV and MLA Küzholuzo Nienü, the sitting legislator from Phek Assembly Constituency, had  assured work would resume by April 30 and outstanding payments will be made by end of the month, but we see no resolution and compelled to resume our agitation, it added.

It must be noted here that on April 15, local contractors and villagers protested at the site office of Stroyproekt demanding clearance of pending bills and resumption of works.
