Kohima to join celebration of World Music Day 2016

Morung Express News   “In times of rain and bad roads, to keep our spirit high” noted Musician Theja Meru said while announcing that the World Music Day 2016 will be celebrated in Kohima for the first time on June 21, 4.30 pm at RCEMPA Jotsoma.   “This is the first time in Kohima. This is the best line up that we have come up with. The artists are performing for free,” said Melekhoto Pucho from Symphony Productions adding that the day is also a time for music lovers and musicians to build friendships and encourage each other.   “It is going to be a day of dance, rock music, pop music, techno, everything under the roof,” stated Theja Meru while sharing the international significance of the day as Kohima celebrates with the rest of the world. “There is so much energy and talent but the platform is always a question mark. We have a place especially through this platform. We also want to show that we are not just about bad roads, guns. We want to show our true colors, tell the world all the good things in Nagaland, the colorful ones,” asserted Meru.

  The celebration which is a first of its kind in Kohima is presented by Symphony Production and supported by Music Task Force (MTF) and in collaboration with San production, Indihut, Unitex, Baptist College Kohima, Kros College, The Heritage, Innovations, Naga musicians, Seven and Kemp Design. the event will feature the most popular artists in Nagaland such as Alobo Naga and the Band, Divine Connection, Polar Lights, Dexterians, Metet Jamir, Virie + Zaza, Moatoshi Jamir, Oren Mozhui, Girls Excess, Rodeo Clowns, Pezet Newme, Vimezo Iralu, Pezet Bokato, Gideon, Avilie Noune, Atso.   A special tribute to Late Lamtsala will be performed by Purple Fusion featuring Moatoshi.   Special attractions of the celebration include a two hour choral workshop will by Vimezo Iralu, one of the finest Pianist and Conductor in Nagaland. The workshop is for free. The event will also provide Free Bus Service as well as free refreshments. The pickup will start from 3.30 till 4:00 pm at the Badminton Stadium, Raj Bhavan while the drop in will be provided till P.R Hill.
