KOHIMA: Landslides affect over 100 houses in Perizie

Another major landslide occurred in Perizie Colony Kohima this morning, causing extensive damage to road and buildings. Due to multiple landslides over the past few weeks, more than 100 houses in Perizie Colony have been affected, said Perizie Colony chairman Akhie Liezietsu.  

Out of over 100 houses, the landslides had badly affected eight RCC buildings and 37 kutcha houses.  

Liezietsu informed that due to high magnitude of landslides, it is “threatening” and affecting the upward institutions/offices like Ruzhukhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Christ for Nation Bible College, Government Polytechnic, Directorate of Fisheries, IG Stadium Gate No.I and Wokha- Kohima road as well.  

The landslide has also cut- off the road of KMC dumping site and also affected agri link roads. Seven families have been displaced and are taking shelter at Khedi Baptist Fellowship premises.  

Kohima Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Soundararajan has visited the affected areas and extended help. The Kohima Municipal Council and Disaster Management Authority also extended help. Kohima village, Rhüdezou youth and well wishers also assisted the residents of the colony in this time of distress.  

Meanwhile, the Colony authority has sent a proposal to the state government for construction of a check dam to prevent any further sort of double/triple damages.
