Kohima, April 5 (MExN): Speaking on the theme ‘Mera Tasen Jangzü’ (Trumpet for a New Step) during the Kohima Longjang Senso Telongjem (KLST) Golden Jubilee celebration at Molu Ki, Kohima on April 4, Limawati Ao, Director Information & Public Relations said that before the technology age, soldiers in battlefields used trumpets or bugles to give signals and warnings to their fellow soldiers.
It was stated in a DIPR report that in the same way, a community also needs to listen and see to these signals and warnings as it moves along with the change of times. He stated that human development began from prehistory where changes took place in a slow pace but now in this data age, the internet has brought about vast and rapid developments that it is known as the ‘Age of Acceleration’, and with these rapid developments the world has become a global village, he added.
He, therefore called upon the KLST that since it is now a matured Union, it should retrospect on the past mistakes and move along with the change of times not living in the past but talking about advancement, economic upliftments, tourism, education, marketing avenues, etc and be leaders and guide for the villagers and the village.
T. Sashimongba Pongen, a pioneer during the founding of the union, recalled that the KLST was founded by eight elders in the years 4th April 1969 and also shared how the elders worked tirelessly. He called upon the KLST to walk in their footsteps with honesty, hard work and live in truth.
T.N. Mannen IAS (Retd) in his exhortation said that we need to be punctual, live with the times and use time properly. He called upon the KLST to be united with empathy, love and truth and move forward with new thoughts, vision and ideas and not to live in the past. Exhortation was also given by Er. Short speeches were also delivered by President, Kohima Aor Telongjem, Chiden Yaden, President, Kohima Asetkong Senso Telongjem, Supongyanger Imsong, President, Dimapur Longjang Senso Telongjem, Y. Among Jamir, President, Longjang Senso Telongjem Mokokchung, I. Ali Aier and Longjang Village Council, Wailemba Jamir.
The Golden Jubilee Souvenir was released by Phutoli L. Jamir during the function. A one minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed. The main highlight of the programme included recitation of Jubilee poetry, cultural folk songs and special songs presentation.
