The Kohima Longsa Hoho took a step towards environmental conservation by distributing tree saplings in Longsa Village to enhance the village's natural beauty while promoting sustainable practices on June 29.
The distribution event, held at Longsa Cultural Hall, was led by Er. Zarenthung Kikon, Chairman of Kohima Longsa Hoho. The proceedings commenced with an invocation prayer by Thungdemo Timothy Ezung, Catechist of St. Peter Church, Longsa.
Elithung Odyuo, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Wokha, underscored the critical role of tree planting in environmental protection.
Benri Ezung, Executive Secretary of Longsa Hoho Kohima, elaborated on the Village Garden project's objectives, emphasizing its potential contribution to mitigating global warming. Reverend L.K. Tsanglao encouraged villagers to nurture the newly planted trees.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ponphyamo Kikon, Chairman of Longsa Village Council, followed by a benediction prayer from Reverend L.K. Tsanglao, Pastor of Longsa Baptist Church.
