Kohima Lotha Students Union holds 47th freshers’ day cum annual session

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): The Kohima Lotha Students Union (KLSU) 47th freshers’ day cum annual session was held under the theme ‘endeavouring excellence’ at Molu Ki, Kohima on October 24. 

A press release received here stated that Er Yanbemo Lotha, Chief Engineer, Police Engineering Project graced the occasion as special guest and Prof Y Ben Lotha, Department of History & Archaeology, Nagaland University Kohima Campus, Merima as theme speaker.

Prof Y Ben Lotha in his address said that that in attempt to achieve something one has to endure hardship. He lamented the misuse of mobile phones which greatly affect the students in their academic performance and hinders their ability towards excellence.

‘The nurture and foster of the students from their parents also greatly determine their performance,’ he stated and suggested, ‘parents should play a vital role towards the performance of the students.’ 

He said that time management is another factor for the students towards a better goal and urged the students to discipline oneself and endure struggle. Stressing on the need for additional qualifications at this fast changing and competitive world, he appraised the women on their performance in education and cited women as second to none. 

Er Yanbemo Lotha in his address said that sincerity, hard work and one’s choice are the stepping stone to success. He also stated that government job alone is limited and students should venture into new avenues by exploring the opportunities available to them. “Wisdom first comes from God,” he stated and advised the students to remember God and put their first priority of wisdom in God. 

KLSU President, Lirhonthung E Kithan in the welcome address urged the freshers to be an example of change towards the society by following the good steps of the elders. Short speeches were delivered by Kohima Lotha Hoho (KLH), Kohima Lotha Eloe Ekhung (KLEH), Lotha Students Union (LSU), NSF Deputy Speaker and Kohima Lotha Youth Organisation (KLYO). 

Special prayer for the students was said by Y Abel Lotha, Catechist, Lotha Catholic Khumshum, Kohima.
