Kohima, March 23 (MExN): In order to pay tribute to three young “revolutionaries” of India Independence movement-Bhagat Singh, Shukhdev Thapar and Shivaram Rajguru, Martyr’s Day or Shahee Diwas was observed in Raj Bhavan, Kohima on March 23.
The Governor of Nagaland, La. Genesha along with officers and staff of Raj Bhavan paid tribute to the heroes. In his address, the Governor highlighted on the significance of the observance of Martyr’s Day, stated a press release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan.
Commissioner and Secretary to Governor, Wezope Kenye also delivered a speech. He said that it is a day of remembrance and tribute to the brave men who laid down their lives for the freedom of our country. ‘Shahee Diwas is not just a day of remembrance, but also reaffirmation of our commitment to values and ideals that our freedom fighters stood for,’ he stated.
