Kohima: Officers’ Hill colony multi-purpose building inaugurated

The Officers’ Hill (Thegabakha) Colony Council office cum multi-purpose building and community borewell at Officers’ Hill colony, Kohima was inaugurated by MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro on September 11. 

Speaking on the occasion, Nakhro lauded the sincerity, dedication of determination of the leaders and members of the colony towards the successful construction of the building. He was hopeful that this building will set a new chapter for the colony to envision a brighter future. 

Nakhro was also optimistic that the building will bring the people more closely. He lauded the colony for winning the distinction of ‘Cleanest ward’ some years back and also the first colony in Kohima to have launched ‘Smart Colony’ by the colony youth. “You are leading as model colony in Kohima town,” he said and hoped that the colony will continue to keep up the good spirit even in the days to come.

Thejao Sekhose, chairman, Association of Kohima Municipal Wards Panchayat (AKMWP) delivered short speech and complimented Officer’s Hill Colony for making headway in many aspects of sustainable urbanization.

Building Committee convenor Vikheto Shohe said that this two storeyed building, with total plinth area of 1846 sq ft, was constructed at Rs. 18.37 lakh.

Presenting the report of community borewell, Officer’s Hill Youth Organization (OHYO) president Kezhalezo Solo said the project was financed by MLA Keneizhakho Nakhro. Solo stated that borewell is fitted with four 4 outlets to distribute water equally for the four sectors of the colony. He hoped that this source of water supply will not only help to ease water scarcity problems in the colony but also help to foster goodwill amongst the denizen of the colony.

Meanwhile, the Officer’s Hill Colony Council (OHCC) felicitated the state teachers’ awardee Mimi Yhoshu from Government Middle School, Officers’ Hill Kohima. Earlier, OHCC chairman Khrielakuo Sekhose delivered welcome address. The programme was chaired by OHCC general secretary Ruokuolhouvo Miachieo. KABA senior pastor Rev Sentisashi Aier pronounced dedicatory prayer. Officers’ Hill Women Union president Shillongmongla led presentations.

Vote of thanks was pronounced by OHCC vice chairman Rhyuzamo Ezung.

Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) administrator T Lanusenla Longkumer, former chief secretary Lalthara and several other dignitaries also present at the function.
