Kohima, May 24 (MExN): The Kohima Ongpangkong Telongjem on May 23 organised the 20th edition of the N I Jamir Academic Excellence Award for HSLC toppers at Molu Ki in Kohima.

Nagaland Adviser for Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Excise, Moatoshi Longkumer, presented the awards to the toppers.

A total of 13 toppers from all the six ranges of the Ao community received the N I Jamir Academic Excellence Award, comprising a citation and cash award of Rs 10,000 each.

Addressing the gathering, Longkumer said the programme was not merely an award distribution ceremony but a celebration of discipline, sacrifice, dreams and academic excellence among Ao students of Nagaland.

Congratulating the award recipients, he said their achievements were earned through dedication, consistency and courage, and had brought pride not only to themselves but also to their parents, schools and community.

He said behind every successful student stands the silent support of parents, teachers, mentors and well-wishers who continue to encourage them even during moments of doubt.

The adviser also lauded parents for their sacrifices and urged students to remain proud of their language, traditions, values and identity.

He encouraged them to pursue excellence beyond academics by learning skills, improving communication abilities, understanding technology and taking care of themselves.

Speaking at the programme, Pangersenla Walling said students should focus on self-learning rather than relying solely on bookish knowledge in order to succeed in life.

She added that students should understand their own potential instead of merely following general educational trends.

Earlier, Temjenmongba Sempo offered prayers for the toppers, while Supongliba led the presentation of awards. The vote of thanks was delivered by Nokchasashi.
