Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C wins 1st Super Six Cricket tourney

Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C emerged winners of the 1st Super Six Cricket tourney after beating Silverbacks which was held at Ruzukhrie High School Ground, Kohima. 

During the final match, Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C opted to bat first. Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C put up a total of 45 runs with Seyievizo and Apa scoring 13 runs each as the top scorers while Sobin of Silverbacks took two wickets and Vishal and Sunjit of Silverbacks took one wicket each. 

Chasing the target, Silverbacks managed to score 42 runs. 

The top scorer of Silverbacks was Vishal and Sobin who scored 21 runs and 10 runs respectively while Vilalie and Samuel of Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C took a wicket each.

In the end, Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C won by 3 runs.

In the semi finals, Kohima Orphanage Dstitute Home defeated Youngsters Cricket club and Silverbacks defeated WELPS Cricket Club.

Earlier, during the quarter finals, Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C defeated Thumbs Up Cricket Club; Silverbacks defeated United Brothers and WELPS Cricket Club defeated Royal Eagles in the last quarter finals.

The prizes for the winners were given by Sunep, a member of the Kohima Veteran Cricket Club. The winners and the runners up walked home with Rs. 10000 and Rs. 6000 respectively. 

While individual prizes were awarded to Ibumrai of Thumbs up Cricket club for scoring 101 runs in the tournament; the highest wicket taker was awarded to Sobin of Silverbacks for taking 6 wickets. The best fielder of the tournament was awarded to Aton John of Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home C while  individual prize for the most promising emerging player was awarded to Pouthuanlung newmai of Kohima Orphanage Destitute Home A.

The event organizers meanwhile gave special thanks to Er. Zale Neikha, Advisor Youth Resources and Sports; Meyiesil Chaya, PS to Er Zale Neikha; Ato Puro, PS to Dr. Niekesalie Kire, Advisor Urban and Municipal Affairs; Kapu Rengma, PS to Advisor of Urban and Municipal Affairs; Kenikrul Noswe, forest ranger and family and Kohima Veteran Cricket Club.
