Kohima, November 23 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel from South Police Station arrested two persons on charges of collecting tax on November 23. A press release from SDPO (South) & PRO, Kohima Police informed that around 12:15 pm that day, information was received from reliable source that an unknown miscreant is collecting tax from taxi drivers at ‘T’ Khel Junction, Chandmari Colony, Kohima. Following this, the personnel from South Police Station carried out search of the area. However, the accused had left the area and proceeded towards Midland Colony in one Maruti Alto (Black Colour) bearing registration number NL07-1178. As such, the police team coordinated its search operation around the main town area and subsequently intercepted the vehicle at New Market. The driver of the vehicle identified as Yashito Sumi (36) and another occupant SS. Pvt. Peiwang Konyak (35) of FGN were arrested by the police team. 25 numbers of extortion receipts was recovered from the possession of SS. Pvt. Peiwang Konyak, the release stated. In this connection, a criminal case vide Kohima South P.S Case No. 0074/2016 U/S 384 IPC R/W 7/8 NSR’62 was registered against the arrested persons.
