Kohima Police arrest two persons

Kohima, July 11 (MExN): Kohima Police have arrested one “NSCN (R) sympathizer” identified as Mezhulhoukho (Bubu).  

A press release from PRO/SDPO (South), Kohima Police informed that on July 9 around 11:45 pm, a joint team of South PS personnel and NAP (IR) stationed at South PS led by SDPO (South) conducted a search operation at New Reserve, Phesama based on information about presence of suspected NPG cadres there.  

However, before reaching the residence where the suspected cadres were taking shelter, the cadres were alerted by barking dogs and they managed to escape. The police personnel recovered 7 numbers of 7.65 mm live rounds, 1 knife, 1 lenovo laptop, 1 16 GB pen drive, 1 pistol holster and 1 vehicle (Maruti 800) B/R No. AS-01L-2249 with ignition key from the house, informed the release.  

Accordingly, the owner of the house identified as S. Yashikaba Sangtam was taken into police custody. During preliminary investigation, the release said, Yashikaba revealed that two of his friends, namely Bubu (sympathizer of NSCN-R) and Neibulie (Major NSCN-R) were staying in his rented house and Neibulie used to come frequently along with armed bodyguards.  

Bubu was arrested during the process of investigation.  

According to the release, the police retrieved two demand notes, one addressed to the all scrap businessmen under Kohima district to submit Rs. 50,000/- as yearly tax and the other addressed to the president of Sumo vehicle union under Kohima district to submit Rs. 1,500/- per vehicle as yearly tax from the seized laptop.  

A case under Kohima South PS Case No. 0041/16 U/S 384/212B/120B IPC R/W 25 (1B)(a)Arms Act R/W 7/8 NSR’ 62 has been registered against the arrested persons for conducting further investigation.
