Kohima, October 24 (MExN): Kohima police personnel arrested two persons of suspected heroin from the cavities of a Maruti Gypsy on October 23. A press release issued by Additional Superintendent of Police & PRO, Kohima, Nagaland informed that the police personnel while conducting routine checking of vehicles at Khuzama interstate check gate detected 739 grams (approx) of suspected heroine wrapped in polythene and concealed inside plastic cases.
The two occupants of the vehicle were identified as R.K. Hopingson (38 yrs), Village- Phaibung Khunou, Senapati and L. Rebeca (38 yrs), Village- Koidi Makha, Senapati. A regular case under NDPS Act has been registered against them. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth Rs. 8 lakh in the local market.
In another incident based on a written complaint lodged on December 12, 2017 against one Shankar Barik (35 yrs), Village- Kismatpatna, District - Burpa Medinipur, West Bengal, P/A- Bhimpore Kadaiya Nani, Daman for duping two individuals with their money amounting to Rs. 5,70,000, Kohima police carried out an investigation into the case and traced the accused persons who had fled to Daman. With the assistance of the local police from Daman and Diu, the accused was arrested on October 12 and has been brought to Kohima for further investigation.
