Kohima police crackdown on crime, car theft in State Capital

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 13 (MExN): The office of the Superintendent of Police Kohima has through a press statement informed about the major breakthrough made by the Kohima Police led by Shouka Kakheto, SDPO Kohima and Neivolie Chadi, O/C North Police Station with the arrest of six persons over this week for their involvement in crimes including car theft. As a result of the above arrest a breakthrough in atleast five car theft cases registered over the past few months has been made, stated the press note issued by Melite Kapfo DSP (T) and PRO DEF, Kohima. 

On 10/10/12, three persons identified as (1) Tokaho Zhimomi, S/o - Heikhu  of  Kulhopu   Village  and presently  residing  at  Kuhuboto, Dimapur, (2) Boto Zhimomi, S/o – Shokato of Kulhopu village, Zunheboto and (3) Khehovi Shohe, S/o - Hoivi of Lutsumi Village and presently residing at Kushabil, Dimapur, were arrested with the assistance of Dimapur Police. 

The press note informed that they were arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a driver and subsequent theft of a Maruti Alto on 31/08/2012. Their involvement in three other cases at Kohima has been positively established, the police informed. 

On 11/10/12, the Sumi Community, Kohima apprehended and produced before the police one Kito T. Sumi, S/o - Tovishe of Zhevishe village, Zunheboto, who was wanted in connection to a car theft case committed along with some of the accused on 10/10/12.

Further, on 12/10/12, based on a complaint received of a car theft at Bayavü, the Kohima Police immediately pressed into action and arrested three persons after they were chased down at Tsiesema village. The stolen Bolero fitted with GPS tracking system further enabled the efforts of the police. 

The arrested person were identified as (1) Khriekuolie Semou, S/o – Zelalhou Semou of Phesa village; (2) Neikekho Semou, S/o – Do-o Semou of Phesa and presently residing at Dhobinalla, Dimapur and (3) Inovi Zhimomi, S/o – Atoka Zhimomi of Chekiye village, Dimapur. 

The press note informed that Kohima Police have so far recovered two Bolero and a Motor cycle and are expected to recover more in the coming days along with more arrests. It has also appreciated the action of the Sumi Community, Kohima for their active co-operation in arresting the accused. 

Further, Kohima police encouraged the vehicle owners to install GPS devices in their Vehicles if possible as it has helped in the recovery of stolen vehicle in many cases including the latest vehicle theft at Bayavü on 12/10/2012.
