Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) LL Doungel IPS today formally launched the Kohima district police website to a global audience in its stride to deliver better services to the people.
One can now click on www.kohimapolice.com to access basic information and also share suggestions to improve the performance of the Kohima district police.
Various forms can also be downloaded from this site and submitted online. The website features history of Kohima district police, police stations, directory, traffic control, special units, gallery, vehicle inquiry, child line India, roll of honour, district crime records bureau, foreigner’s registration office cum passport cell etc.
Doungel was optimistic that the launching of the Kohima police website, after Dimapur police, will usher in better service delivery to the community and also build trust and confidence with the people.
In this fast changing world, he said, it is essential for all DEFs in Nagaland to use emerging technology to reach out to the people in an efficient way.
The first police post in Kohima was established in 1914, during the First World War, stated a background note. In 1933, the first police station was established at the present Kohima North Police Station location. In December 1958, Kumar Randip Singh, IPS became the first SP of Kohima District, Naga Hills, and till now 35 SPs have been posted to the unit.
Kohima Sr. SP Joseph Hesso, IPS stated that a Facebook page have also been opened and requested concerned citizens to give their “valuable and constructive” suggestions so that the Unit can serve the people better. The function was chaired by Puzoto Khatso, NPS, SDPO (North) while vote of thanks was proposed by Igwangheing Hemang, NPS, Additional SP Kohima.
