Kohima Police seize vehicle, bike

Kohima, April 27 (MExN): A combined team of Anti Vehicle Theft Squad (AVTS), DIB and mobile unit of DEF Kohima seized a vehicle and a bike on April 26 during routine checking of vehicles at old bypass area, Kohima.   A press release from PRO, Kohima Police informed that the chassis and engine number engraved on the vehicle (Tata Sumo – Zonal Taxi) did not tally with the ones written on the smart card (RC book). Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle identified as J. Dominic (21) of Senapati, Manipur was arrested. Further, a regular case Vide Kohima North PS Case No 0033/2016 U/S 471/472/477/482/489 IPC R/W U/S 192 A/196 M.V Act 1988 was registered against the arrested person for conducting further investigation.

  Meanwhile, with regard to the bike, it was informed that the rider abandoned it when he saw the police team checking vehicles at the check point. On proper verification, the police found that the registration number and chassis and engine numbers did not tally with the ones engraved on the bike. Accordingly, the bike was seized and a case registered for further investigation, the release said.   The details of the vehicles detained are: Tata Sumo (Zonal Taxi) – registration number (NL 01T 5339), chassis number (421055GZZ915727), engine number (497SP6GZZ748648); Motorcycle (Bajaj Discover 100 CC) - registration number (AS01BA0748), chassis number (MD2DSFAZZTPD78059), engine number (JBUBTD20833).
