Kohima PWD Ward-11 gets new Health & Wellness Centre

MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso inaugurated new building of Health & Wellness Centre–Sub Centre (HWC–SC) at PWD Ward-11, Kohima on June 21. The new building was constructed under National Health Mission (NHM) Nagaland, Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland.

Gracing the inaugural function, Dr Ato thanked the medical department for reaching the health care delivery system to the doorstep of the community.

Although the Centre will provide free service for all, Dr Ato suggested the installation of a free-will donation box at the Centre to support the maintenance and healthy sustenance of the Centre.

He also called upon the community to make the best use of the services and facilities being offered by the Centre. Further, Dr Ato wishes the community to gain ‘better health and better life’ through this Centre.

Dr Leamnyei Konyak, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Kohima, highlighted the government’s commitment to community healthcare and stated that all services provided at the centre would be free.

The Centre will provide services on care in pregnancy and childbirth, Neonatal and Infant Health Care Services, Childhood and Adolescent Health Care Services, Family Planning, Contraceptive Services and other Reproductive Health Care Services, Management of Communicable Diseases: National Health Programme, Management of Common communicable diseases and outpatient care for acute simple illness and minor ailments, Screening, Prevention, Control and Management of Non-communicable Diseases, Care for Common Ophthalmic and ENT Problems, Basic Oral Health Care, Elderly and Palliative Health Care Services, Emergency Medical Services including Burns and Trauma and Screening and Basic Management of Mental Health Ailments health promotion.

As per GoI norms, 106 essential medicines are to be available free of cost in the health facilities under 'Free Drug Service. He called upon the community to take ownership of the health Centre, adding “Community can also involve in health promotion activities.”

The programme was chaired by Limugha Lohe, Community Health Officer, PWD HWC-SC while welcome address was delivered by Mezathul Toso, Chairman, Urban Health Committee. Vote of thanks was proposed by Meyi Sanglir, Chairman, Lower PWD Panchayat.
