Kohima, June 20 (MExN): A formal inauguration programme was held at Government High School, Forest Colony, Kohima for the newly constructed toilets and urinals on June 20. The facility was officially inaugurated by Joint Secretary, Department of School Education, Avelu Ruho, stated a DIPR report.
In her address, Ruho highlighted that the infrastructure includes five toilets and ten urinals, made possible through initial funding from Samagra Shiksha of Rs 5 lakh, through a fundraiser hosted by the teaching faculty and generous contributions from well-wishers. The facility was completed at a total cost of Rs 9.6 lakh. She stated that the structures have been tiled and are well equipped with electricity and water facilities.
Ruho also recalled the school’s humble beginnings in 2009 and attributed the school's growth to the collective efforts of the Forest Colony community, the parents and the commitment of the teaching faculty.
The programme featured short speeches from Forest Colony Council Chairman, Peter K Rengma and Albert Tungoe, Graduate Teacher at GHS Forest Colony. A prayer was offered by Pastor Avi Zao of Faith Harvest Church. Students from Class 7 presented a special number with vote of thanks by Honoli Y Sumi, Graduate Teacher.
The event was chaired by Swedesenuo Zao, Assistant Headmistress of GHS Forest Colony. It was by dignitaries including the Chairman and the team from Ward-17, Colony Chairmen from Forest Colony, Electrical, Mewibogei, Upper Agri colonies and Agri Farm, Goan Buras, SMC, SMDC members, and teachers.
