Kohima Smart City: KSCDL to ensure maximum participation

Kohima, February 20 (MExN): While the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has set a benchmark of at least 1% of the population to participate in the online survey, Kohima city has crossed the minimum threshold value of 1% of the population (i.e. 1076 people) and the latest figure stands at 1769 people. The Kohima Smart City has that there are only 10 days left for Citizens participation in the Ease of Living Index Survey. 

 


This was informed by the Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) during the press conference held with the digital media houses on February 14. 

 


Kovi Meyase, CEO KSCDL opined that though the target was achieved, the Kohima Smart city wants to continue to create awareness and reaching out to all sections of the society to ensure maximum participation from all sections of the society.

 


The CEO, a press release stated, highlighted the different activities being undertaken by the Kohima Smart City to create awareness and to enable participation of the citizens which included outreach programme to all the 19 wards, colleges, senior citizens, street vendors, taxi and bus unions, the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries and also through local festivals and events.

 


He also informed that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs will be randomly selecting 25 citizens from each of the 114 Cities through a computer generated algorithm. The winners will be awarded with a 1000 gift voucher and an opportunity to interact with the city mayor or administrator on important issues. From among the 25 selected winners of each city, one citizen from will be randomly selected and out of the 114 citizens, three will again be randomly be selected as national winners. The three national winners will be awarded Rs. 25000 cash prize and felicitated at the “4th Apex Conference of Smart Cities” to be held at Surat in June 2020.

 


It was also informed that from the 114 cities, the ‘Best Three Performing Cities’ will be awarded with certificates and cash prizes of Rs. 3 Lakh, 2 Lakh and 1 Lakh. There are three categories i.e. Above 10 Lakh Population Cities, 5 lakh to 10 Lakh Population Cities and Below 5 Lakh Population Cities.

 


Posters were also handed over to the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industries and stickers on Citizen Perception Survey were given to the Taxi & Bus Unions for Awareness Creation.

 


The CEO further, appealed to all citizens to participate for a better and more livable Kohima.
