‘Kohima Street Carnival’ from Sept 29 to Oct 2

Kohima, September 28 (MExN): The Kohima Smart City in collaboration with Kohima Municipal Council and other government departments, local music and fitness institutes and citizen based organizations is organizing the ‘Kohima Street Carnival’ from September 29 to October 2 along New NST to Razhu Point, Kohima. 

The Kohima Smart City Development Limited, Chief Executive Officer, Er Kezhazelhou Theunuo said in a press release that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious History of its people, culture and achievements. Smart Cities Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has planned numerous events across 100 Smart Cities between September 26 to October 2 as part of the 75 weeks of celebrations.

As one of the initiatives Smart Cities have been advised to undertake a 75 hour urban transformation implementation event with the objective of reimagining public spaces in their cities and impacting the citizens keeping in mind COVID appropriate behavior.

Accordingly, the Kohima Smart City is organizing the Kohima Street Carnival covering an array of events targeting all groups of citizenry. Some of the events lined up are the Nagaland Piano Festival organized in collaboration with Brilliante, Zumba in collaboration with De Operettas Music Institute, Busking in collaboration with TAFMA, Street Health Clinic for Senior Citizens with office of the Chief Medical Officer, Flower Exhibition and Sale with Kohima Village Women Organisation, Cyclothon with Nagaland Mountain Biking Association, Blood Donation Camp with the Voluntary Blood Donors Association, etc. Other events include Street Food Festival, Painting Competition, Walkathon and Street Carnival for children.

The celebration will be launched on September 29 by the Advisor for UDD and DMA Dr N Nicky Kire at 10:00 am at the Old NST Site. All citizens have been invited to be part of the celebrations while keeping in mind the laid down COVID SOPs.
