Kohima to Kargil: 2nd Naga Regiment motorcycle expedition

Nagaland Water Resources, Advisor Tongpang Ozukum today interacted with 2nd Naga Regiment bike expedition team at World War II Cemetery, Kohima.

The 2nd Naga Regiment will be undertaking motorcycle expedition with the theme ‘Kargil Victory Ride’ from Kohima to Kargil (K2K), commemorating 25 years of the Kargil Vijay Diwas and pay tribute to the gallant Naga soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty during Op Vijay.

The expedition will be officially flagged-off from Kohima on July 2 at 9:30 am at Assam Rifles Helipad, Kohima. It will be flagged off by Lt Gen RP Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command.

The expedition will cover a distance of over 4000Kms, passing through 8 states and 2 union territories.

The team will reach Kargil War Memorial, Dras on the occasion of the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas (26 July 2023).

 ‘Our National flag is flying because of your sacrifices’

Addressing the expedition team, Ozukum conveyed “best wishes” from Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Nagaland. He lauded the soldiers for protecting and keeping the National flag flying. Our National flag is flying because of your sacrifices, he told the soldiers.

Ozukum also told the expedition team to tell others about the brave hearts of Nagas throughout their ride and convey “our salute, regards and acknowledgement to the martyrs families.”

MLA Dr Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso from 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, 164 Naga TA CO, Col. Gaurav Singh, 2nd Naga Regiment CO Col.  SS Gusain, and other officers also present at the interaction programme. The expedition team will be led by Lt. Col, Saini, 2nd Naga Regiment.
