Kohimademands abeyance of tender notice on PMGSY-III

Kohima, September 6 (MExN):  Alleging certain anomalies in the Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) for Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Phase-III Batch 2023-2024, the Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU) today urged the concerned department to keep in tender in abeyance till the matter is rectified.

In a representation to the Chief Engineer, Road & Bridges (PWD), the union highlighted that during previous years, the NIT were invited project-wise.

For instance, in 2017, there were 19 packages and accordingly19 firms were awarded work order as per merit of bidding. Likewise, in 2019, NIT was called for 13 packages and 13 firms were awarded work order, it pointed out.

Accordingly, our demand is to break up the projects and they should be segregated district wise, as most of the districts have been clustered with another which is practically not feasible, the NCSU stated.

In the past, even for one project by one firm, problems of timely completion were faced. Thus, how can one firm completes 4-5 projects at the scheduled time, it posed.

In such case, the popular PMGSY programme will be a total failure, it asserted.

In this connection, the NCSU on July 21 had also submitted a representation to the Chief Minister of Nagaland to allot work order on one firm one work order against 40 packages of Phase-III of PMGSY, it added.

However, it noted that the concerned department, especially PMGSY branch has already invited NIT for 40 projects clubbed into 16 packages on August 25 undermining the NCSU’s representation and depriving many aggrieved qualified contractors, the union stated.

To this end, the representation signed by the NCSU President  Pele  Khezhie and General Secretary John Kath sought ‘justice from the department concerned to keep NIT in abeyance, pending rectification of the anomalies.
