Dimapur, October 11 (MExN): Koio Village Council resents an article issued by a self-styled organization comprising of “known chronic alcoholics and drug-abuser,” who, the council stated are maligning the image of the village.
A rejoinder from the village council’s chairman and secretary made mention that an article had appeared in the local dailies written by one Chanchio Kikon and Nrichemo Lotha carrying wrong and misleading information. They had carried the article (content not explained in the rejoinder) under the name and style of “Semi Youth Union” and “Koio Youth” (KY), the council informed.
The council clarified that there are no such organizations under the style SYU or KY in Koio village so far. In this regard, the village rejected the propaganda of the two said organizations’ self-styled chairman and secretary. They are warned of stern action for their activities, the council cautioned.
The SYU is nothing but a self-styled union comprising of one Myingthungo, Chanchio and one Nrichemo Lotha along (with “advisor” Pvuchisao Kikon). According to the council, “they are all known chronic alcoholics and drug-abuser.” “sensible candidates” are advised to desist from sponsoring such persons.
The council also expressed shock that some political candidates are ‘intentionally trying to tarnish the good image of the village by using some self-interested persons.’ The council has cautioned any individual or candidate against attempting to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the village “by pouring in drugs and alcohol” into the village and “poisoning youths in the name of election campaign.”
