
Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Konyak Community Centre, Dimapur was inaugurated by Advisor Social Welfare, Home guards & Civil Defence, Noke Wangnao in the presence of Konyak legislators and dignitaries at East Dimapur Purana Bazaar, on February 22.
Speaking on the occasion, Wangnao said emphasised on proper utilization of funds for the development of the centre and assured to consult with fellow legislators on the need to develop the centre.
W Honje Konyak briefed the gathering on the concept of the project saying that it is a multi-purpose initiative aimed at facilitating the community. The idea of the project began in 2015, citing that with the growing population of the community, it has become an utmost necessity to have such centre. It would become a place for any occasion ranging from informal meetings and social gatherings. Master Plan project is being sought to set up proper infrastructure at the community centre, he added.
S Howing, President, Konyak Union, referring to the community centre, in his speech said it is the product of unity amongst people and will go a long way in the society.
Earlier, the function began with the invocation prayer pronounced by Rev Dr Pongsing Konyak and welcome address by K Yamao Konyak, Committee Convener. The Konyak Baptist Church Dimapur choir presented a song which was composed exclusively for the event.
