Konyak Union condemns June 7 firing

Mon, June 11 (MExN): The Konyak Union has vehemently condemned the “odious crime” committed in the June 7 firing incident which occurred “within its jurisdiction”.

Terming the killings as “inhumane,” a statement from the union President Manlip Konyak and General Secretary Honang Konyak maintained, “Such act of crime had stained its serene soil.”

It further questioned both parties if any solution had been attained because of the firing and killing incident.

Insisting that the Konyaks “since time immemorial” had always stood for peace and reconciliation and had always bannered its un-defying stance for early and peaceful solution, the union expressed that it was disheartened to see “such act of insincerity at every level”.

“Such phenomenon will only result in a state of social & political chaos and nothingness,” it added.

Asserting that its territory/jurisdiction is not a safe warring zone or a safe armed passage for any groups, the union also strongly appealed to all concern to abstain/restrain from any act of “hot pursuit” or killings. “If any group bruises its untainted soil once again, then it shall be considered as a threat against the integrity of the Konyaks and a war against civilization,” the Union warned.

The union also strongly condemned the “goodwill mind” of the informants which had resulted in bloodshed and grief in the family today.

In this regard, the KU, while heralding its stance, appealed every citizen to “honour and preserve the sanctity of the Konyak soil”.

Further stating that it is bound to voice out the plight of its people for peace and security reason, the Union maintained that the recent killings and the cruel scene had inflicted fear psychosis on the children’s mind.

The Union earnestly appealed to all residing within its jurisdiction to be transformed agents of peace and not bloodshed and grief.

It also lamented on the souls that fell prey to the hands of cruelty and conveyed its profound condolences to all the bereaved families.
