Konyak Union refutes  allegations, demands apology

Mon, September 4 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has refuted the ‘written complaint’ submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Charaideo in Assam, alleging that the KU and Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU) had been involved in illegal taxation and unnecessary bandh in the Assam-Nagaland border area.

Terming it as a ‘baseless allegation,’ the KU Media Cell issued a press release on September 4, stating that the “Konyak community had been actively supporting the government while implementing the standard operating protocols in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic with our own resources, energy and time  in view of the safety of our people.”

As such, it condemned the allegations and the subsequent news reports on the matter, and demanded a public apology from the concerned persons. “It is to note that if it fails to clarify the alleged news report, the Konyak Union has no option but to suit a defamation case on the news report,” the release stated.
