Mon, October 18 (MExN): District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Mon conducted one-day legal awareness programme with the apex organization of the Konyak women - Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK), Mopong Unit on October 18 at Mopong town. 


N Mannon, Panel Lawyer speaking on human trafficking said that 51% of human trafficking victims were female. Most people use those victims for recovering of loans or other debts. She also urged them to stop the practice of early marriage because it led to live a life of poverty.


She also spoke on Domestic Violence Act, in which she reminded the participants the importance of One Stop Centre which was already available in Mon district.


K Topha (Panel Lawyer) spoke on Consumer & RTI topics. In his speech, he spoke about the importance of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection Department. For any complaints to file, one must do it before 2 years to get the case registered, he added.


M Moba, Retainer Lawyer chaired the programme. Echi Konyak, President KNSK, Mopong Unit gave the welcome note.
